This article on CNN.com about implantabletracking chips for humans scares the hell out of me. Maybe I'm just beingparanoid, but the thought of having a chip implanted in my arm that broadcasts mylocation to a satellite is really disturbing to me. Of course, I don't live in Mexicowhere kidnapping is a major concern. To them, this technology could be a lifesaver.
The really scary thing about this is the fact that it's being reported on CNN -- thisisn't some whacko underground technology report, it's the freaking mainstream news.This is real. It happening now, and it will continue to expand.From the article:
Antonio Aceves, the director of the Mexican company in charge of distributingthe chip here, said that in the first year of sales, the company hoped to implantchips in 10,000 people and ensure that at least 70 percent of all hospitals had thetechnology to read the devices.
